Select from a range of learning resources to develop participants’ numeracy skill and knowledge

There exists a range of numeracy learning resources in our daily lives that can be utilized in promoting learner engagement and achieving numeracy learning outcomes. Identify four traditional resources and four resources from new or emerging technology, and explain how you would incorporate them into appropriate learning tasks and activities.

Four traditional resources of numeracy learning

· Textbooks are best utilized by learners when they source information themselves and learn at their own pace. Textbooks are good for personal reading but very distracting when used in a classroom setting as some learners will start reading ahead or read their own topics, therefore, interfering with the lesson. I advise that the classroom should be avoided during lessons and only referenced when certain tasks are necessary. However, you should give students tasks so as to use the textbooks during their own time.

· Traditional classroom lecture- in a traditional classroom the teacher speaks as the students listen. The teacher provides theoretical information to the students and expects them to understand what is being taught. This is typically a lecture. All the information comes from the teacher. Verbal learners benefit from the aural lessons as they are able to understand a lot from the teacher. However, I will also incorporate student interaction by asking questions to make clarifications on the understandings.
